About this race
The London Epping Forest 50K is an out-and-back trail ultramarathon starting and finishing on Wanstead Flats, opposite the Golden Fleece pub in East London. From there the route heads north through a chain of green spaces before climbing into Epping Forest itself, following woodland paths to a turnaround point at the top of the forest and returning the same way. The terrain is a mix of forest trails and parkland paths, often muddy given the early-October timing, and hilly rather than flat, with sustained climbing throughout. Three aid stations are spaced along the route. For part of the way the 50K shares its course with the shorter 25K EcoTrail event, which covers the second half of the out-and-back, so runners on both distances cross paths through the forest. The race is organised by Camino Ultra as a UTMB-affiliated event.
