About this race
The Supersonic 10K follows the same flat, fast coastal stretch used by the Bournemouth Half Marathon, taking in views of both Boscombe and Bournemouth Piers along the Dorset seafront. Run on Sunday morning as part of the Run Bournemouth weekend, the course stays close to the promenade and seafront roads throughout, avoiding the clifftop climbs found on the longer half marathon route. The surface is entirely road and promenade, with a flat profile that makes it well suited to runners chasing a quick time or stepping up from 5K towards longer distances. Finishing at Bournemouth Pier Approach, the race shares its finish line and atmosphere with the half marathon later the same morning, giving competitors the option of doubling up on both events for extra distance. The seaside setting, award-winning blue flag beaches and lively finish area make it a popular October fixture on the south coast running calendar.
Course profile & record eligibility
World Athletics record-eligibility rules cap net elevation loss at 1m per km of race distance, and require the start and finish to be no more than 50% of the race distance apart — both meant to stop a course gaining an unfair edge from downhill grade or a point-to-point tailwind. This is based on this course's recorded elevation and GPS data, not an official measurement or certification.
