About this race
The Broadway Half Marathon starts and finishes on Broadway High Street in the village of Broadway, Worcestershire, in the northern Cotswolds. The 13.2 mile course forms the upper half of the marathon's figure-of-eight, climbing from the start up to Broadway Tower for views across the Vale of Evesham, before crossing to Snowshill and on to Stanway. From Stanway, the route turns back through gently undulating fields and woodland to Broadway, meaning the toughest climbing comes early and the second half of the race is comparatively easier going. The majority of the route is trail or unpaved track, with only a few minor road sections, and no road closures are in place, so runners share some stretches with local traffic. It's a genuinely hilly, often muddy circuit through the Cotswolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and a good introduction to the tougher full marathon course.
Course profile & record eligibility
World Athletics record-eligibility rules cap net elevation loss at 1m per km of race distance, and require the start and finish to be no more than 50% of the race distance apart — both meant to stop a course gaining an unfair edge from downhill grade or a point-to-point tailwind. This is based on this course's recorded elevation and GPS data, not an official measurement or certification.
