About this race

The Marlow Half Marathon starts on Marlow's historic High Street beside the River Thames and finishes at Marlow Sports Club. The route follows largely traffic-free country lanes out through the Chiltern Hills and Hambleden Valley, offering runners sweeping rural views across the surrounding countryside. A notable feature is the climb up Pheasant Hill, which gives the course its genuinely hilly, undulating profile rather than a flat run; a shortcut is available after roughly four miles for those wishing to avoid it. Terrain throughout is tarmac country lane, fully signed and marshalled, with mile markers and drink stations positioned at intervals along the way. Near the finish, the route crosses the busy Henley Road into Pound Lane at a marshalled crossing point before returning to the sports club grounds, where finishers are welcomed with medals and refreshments.

Course profile & record eligibility

World Athletics record-eligibility rules cap net elevation loss at 1m per km of race distance, and require the start and finish to be no more than 50% of the race distance apart — both meant to stop a course gaining an unfair edge from downhill grade or a point-to-point tailwind. This is based on this course's recorded elevation and GPS data, not an official measurement or certification.
