About this race
The EnduranceLife Gower Ultra starts and finishes at Oxwich Bay and is the longest and toughest distance on offer, tracing an extended route around the Gower Peninsula's coast and countryside within this Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Like the other distances, the course runs entirely off-road across a demanding mix of grass, moorland, beach and rock, taking in clifftop paths, dune systems, woodland and several well-known Gower beaches. It carries the most climbing of any distance in the event, with sustained undulating and steep cliff sections throughout rather than any significant flat running, and holds UTMB qualifying status as one of the more serious ultra-distance trail events in the UK. Starting early in the morning alongside the marathon, well ahead of the half marathon and 10k, it gives ultra runners the maximum time available to cover the full extent of Gower's demanding coastal terrain before the light fades.
