Maverick Dark Castle 5k

The Maverick Dark Castle Short course is a 5km night trail run starting at Corfe Castle in the Isle of Purbeck, Dorset, and is the most accessible of the three distances. Runners leave the castle and weave through the village of Corfe towards Church Knowle, with the route heading up onto the ridge at Knowle Hill, where Purbeck views open out by day. The longer routes continue on to Stone Hill Down and Blue Poole. Organisers describe the terrain as dark, spooky and rooty, soft and muddy in November, with some hard-packed and road sections. The profile is rolling with a climb to the ridge. Run in the dark with head torches from the same castle base as the other distances, it suits runners new to night trail running.
