About this race
The Rugged Radnage 5K starts and finishes next to Radnage Village Hall on Green Lane, in the Chiltern Hills near High Wycombe. The course forms one loop of the wider figure-of-eight route used by the event, taking in a mix of road, trail and footpath through the woods and fields surrounding the village. Runners tackle genuine off-road climbs and descents rather than a flat profile, with rutted paths and variable ground underfoot depending on recent weather. As the shorter of the two distances, it covers only one side of the full course, giving a taste of the area's hills without the steep muddy climb through Crowell Wood that the 10K includes. The race is organised by parents of Radnage CofE Primary School as one of its main annual fundraisers, and finishes with a well-supported prize giving, followed by a short fun run for children.
Course profile & record eligibility
World Athletics record-eligibility rules cap net elevation loss at 1m per km of race distance, and require the start and finish to be no more than 50% of the race distance apart — both meant to stop a course gaining an unfair edge from downhill grade or a point-to-point tailwind. This is based on this course's recorded elevation and GPS data, not an official measurement or certification.
