Maverick Dark Castle 15k

The Maverick Dark Castle Long course is a 15km night trail run starting at Corfe Castle in the Isle of Purbeck, Dorset. Runners leave the castle and pass through the village of Corfe, crossing common land towards Church Knowle before climbing onto the ridge at Knowle Hill, where daytime views across Purbeck give way to head torch beams after dark. As one of the longer routes, the course carries on towards Stone Hill Down and Blue Poole, using ridgelines and tight, muddy single track through woodland and open heath, where Sika deer live. Organisers describe the terrain as dark, spooky and rooty, soft and muddy in November, with occasional hard-packed and road sections. The route is a rolling mix of climbs and descents. It is the longest of three distances, with Middle and Short options starting from the same castle base.
