About this race
The South Downs Trail Run Half Marathon starts at Goodwood Racecourse in the South Downs National Park, near Chichester. At 21.3km, the course weaves through forest tracks and skirts the edge of Levin Down before joining a stretch of the South Downs Way. The route is made up of forest fire roads, bridleways and single track tree-lined trails, with views across the South Downs and out towards the North Downs, Chichester Harbour and the Isle of Wight on clear days. Runners descend into the village of East Dean before facing a final climb and returning to Goodwood for the finish. The terrain is entirely off-road and the profile is rolling, with a mix of sustained climbs and descents typical of the Downs. Organisers rate it a moderate challenge, and canicross runners start five minutes after the main field. It is part of the Run Rebel trail run series.
