About this race
The Celtic Trail Half Marathon is a point-to-point route from Resolven Rugby Club, Neath, to Dare Valley Country Park, Aberdare. Starting in Resolven, the route heads east and climbs steadily along forest tracks through the hills, rising for around the first half towards the high ground near Craig y Llyn. It then follows high-level trails of the Coed Morgannwg Way, passing hidden reservoirs and open mountainside, before a long, gradual descent towards Aberdare. The final section drops quickly into Dare Valley Country Park, where the race finishes. The course is mostly forest track and trail, with a small amount of tarmac, and is fully marked with arrows, flags and tape. Views stretch across the Brecon Beacons National Park, and a coach to the start is available as an optional extra.
