Salisbury Plain Winter Edition Half Marathon

The Salisbury Plain Winter Edition Half Marathon is a loop starting and finishing at Old Fowler Barracks, near Ludgershall, Wiltshire. The course crosses Salisbury Plain, a working military training area, on established footpaths, byways and hard-packed tracks, making a large circuit around the town of Tidworth. Along the way it runs across open downland on the western and southern sides of Tidworth and returns north along the eastern side, close to Perham Down. The terrain is rolling chalk downland with constant climbs and descents, exposed ground with little shelter, and surfaces that are often muddy, so trail shoes are essential. The route is fully marked and marshalled, so no navigation is required. The route is signed the day before, and the half marathon is open to runners aged 16 and over.
