About this race

The Two Tunnels City Half Marathon starts and finishes at Brickfields Park in Bath, following the "City Ticket" route. Runners head out through both the Devonshire and Combe Down railway tunnels before joining the Kennet & Avon Canal towpath into the heart of the city, passing Sydney Gardens and Cleveland House on the way to Pulteney Bridge, with the route running close to Bath Abbey and Pulteney Weir. The surface is a solid mix of tarmac, canal towpath and riverside path rather than trail, and the course is flat throughout, taking in more of Bath's landmark architecture than the out-and-back "Return Ticket" half marathon option. With three to five feast stations on course, it offers a genuinely scenic tour of the city alongside its unique underground tunnel sections, finishing back at Brickfields Park in the centre of Bath.

Course profile & record eligibility

World Athletics record-eligibility rules cap net elevation loss at 1m per km of race distance, and require the start and finish to be no more than 50% of the race distance apart — both meant to stop a course gaining an unfair edge from downhill grade or a point-to-point tailwind. This is based on this course's recorded elevation and GPS data, not an official measurement or certification.

Loop Course type
0m limit 21.1m Start/finish drop
Negligible limit 10.5km Start/finish separation
