About this race

The Warrington Running Festival 10k starts and finishes at the Golden Gates of Warrington Town Hall, on a closed-road course through the town centre and surrounding streets. The route is flat and fast, with only around 32 metres of elevation gain over the full distance, taking in a mix of historic streets and a vibrant town centre atmosphere. Because roads are closed for the event, runners have the course largely to themselves, making it well suited to chasing a quick time. Each kilometre is accurately marked with distance flags, and marshals are positioned throughout to guide runners and offer encouragement. The race finishes back at the Golden Gates, close to the lively Bank Park event village, with food vendors and entertainment on offer. It's a popular step-up distance for those who have completed a 5k, and a fast option for more experienced runners looking for a PB.

Course profile & record eligibility

World Athletics record-eligibility rules cap net elevation loss at 1m per km of race distance, and require the start and finish to be no more than 50% of the race distance apart — both meant to stop a course gaining an unfair edge from downhill grade or a point-to-point tailwind. This is based on this course's recorded elevation and GPS data, not an official measurement or certification.
