Maverick Dark Oxfordshire 17k

The Maverick Dark Oxfordshire Long course covers 17km through the Stonor Park estate in the Chiltern Hills, run entirely after nightfall with runners navigating by head torch. The route follows the rough, undulating trails and bridleways of the private estate, which is home to fallow deer and wallabies, climbing through wooded sections described by organisers as 'dark, spooky, rooty and a lot of fun.' As the longest of the event's three distances, it takes in the most demanding sections of the course, with sustained climbs and descents through woodland and open parkland across the rolling Chiltern countryside. A marked and marshalled course with an outpost for refuelling partway round helps runners through the night-time conditions. Starting and finishing at Stonor Park, the course is run on off-road trail surfaces throughout, making it one of the more technical night trail races on the Maverick calendar.
