About this race
The Celtic Ultra is a circular 34-mile route starting and finishing at Dare Valley Country Park, Aberdare. It heads west along the high-level trails of the Coed Morgannwg Way, passing hidden reservoirs and wind turbines, then works across the Rhigos mountain range towards Resolven in the Neath Valley at the western end of the course. A loop through forest above Abergarwed and Melin-cwrt is followed by long forest descents and climbs through the Afan Forest to Glyncorrwg at the southern end. The route then returns east across the mountain to finish at Dare Valley Country Park. Surfaces are mostly forest track and trail with some single track, river crossings and sharp climbs, and the profile is hilly throughout with long descents. The course is fully marked, with views across the Brecon Beacons National Park.
