About this race

Run Mawnan 10k starts and finishes at Carwinion Playing Field in the pretty Cornish coastal village of Mawnan Smith. The route heads down into the village past the famous Red Lion pub, then follows quiet country roads out towards Trebah Gardens, taking in glimpses of the North Helford river along the way. At the turning for Helford Passage, 10k runners continue north back through the village and on through Boskensoe, where a drink station is provided, before passing through Tregarne to Penwarne. The course then returns down Penwarne Road to Carwinion Road and the playing field finish. The route is entirely on tarmac country roads, gently undulating throughout rather than flat. Run by Falmouth Rotary as a family fundraiser, the event combines a genuine road race challenge with village charm, alongside a children's fun run and family activities back at the finish.

Course profile & record eligibility

World Athletics record-eligibility rules cap net elevation loss at 1m per km of race distance, and require the start and finish to be no more than 50% of the race distance apart — both meant to stop a course gaining an unfair edge from downhill grade or a point-to-point tailwind. This is based on this course's recorded elevation and GPS data, not an official measurement or certification.
