About this race
The Bournemouth Coastal TEN 10 Mile starts and finishes at Hengistbury Head in Southbourne, on the eastern edge of Bournemouth. Runners head west along the seafront promenade past Southbourne and Boscombe, including a run along Boscombe Pier, before turning back along the same coastal path to return to Hengistbury Head. The course is out and back along the beach-side paths with sea views across the bay, and on clear days the Isle of Wight, The Needles and Old Harry Rocks can be seen. It is almost entirely paved and largely traffic-free, with a small amount of unpaved path. The profile is largely flat along the promenade, with a few short rises where the path climbs towards the cliff tops. It is a fast and beginner-friendly course, rated one out of five for difficulty.
