Maverick Dark Castle 11k

The Maverick Dark Castle Middle course is an 11km night trail run starting at Corfe Castle in the Isle of Purbeck, Dorset. From the castle, runners pass through Corfe village and cross common land towards the village of Church Knowle before heading up onto the ridge at Knowle Hill, with sweeping Purbeck views by day and head torch beams after dark. The longer routes continue towards Stone Hill Down and Blue Poole along muddy, tight single track in woodland and open heath, where Sika deer are found. Organisers describe the terrain as dark, spooky and rooty, soft and muddy in November, with some hard-packed and road sections. The profile is rolling, with a mix of ascents and descents. Sitting between the Long and Short options, the Middle route is a solid night trail challenge from the same castle base.
