About this race

The Cardiff Half Marathon starts outside Cardiff Castle in the city centre and finishes at the Civic Centre. The route heads south past the Principality Stadium and Cardiff City Stadium towards Penarth, passing Penarth Marina and crossing the barrage into Cardiff Bay. It then runs through the heart of the bay, passing the Norwegian Church, the Senedd and the Wales Millennium Centre, before turning north through the city. The course loops around Roath Park Lake before returning to the centre for a grandstand finish. The course is almost entirely on paved roads, with one short, sharp rise early in the race, a long flat run through the bay area and gently rolling terrain through the northern suburbs. The organisers describe the course as predominantly flat and fast, and the event is a large city-centre road race.
