About this race
The Night Trails 10K takes place after dark in Salcey Forest, a Forestry Commission woodland near Northampton, with runners required to carry a head or chest torch. The course is a fully marked, two lap 10km course, run on well maintained pathways of mainly crushed stone or very well trodden open forest floor, so around 95 percent of it is trail. Organisers describe the profile as fundamentally flat, making it a fast and approachable introduction to night running. The crushed stone surface can become slippy and mucky depending on the weather, so grip and care in the dark matter. The forest has a cafe and toilets on site, and parking is available for the evening. Canicross runners start around ten minutes ahead of the main field. The event is run by Big Bear Events as part of its Night Trails series.
