About this race
The Maverick Dark Oxfordshire Short course is a 7km introduction to night trail running through the Stonor Park estate in the Chiltern Hills, run entirely after dark with head torches. The route follows rough, undulating trail and parkland paths across the private estate, home to fallow deer and wallabies, taking in a shorter loop than the Middle and Long routes with less sustained climbing but still genuine off-road, rooty terrain underfoot. Unlike the two longer distances, the Short route has no outpost along the way, with runners completing the loop and returning directly to Stonor Park for the finish. Marked and marshalled throughout, it is designed as an accessible entry point into the Maverick Dark series for runners new to night trail racing, or as a shorter option for those wanting to experience the estate's atmospheric woodland and open parkland after sunset without the demands of the longer courses.
