About this race
The Hurtwood 50K is an out-and-back trail ultra starting and finishing at Dorking Sports Centre on Reigate Road, Dorking. From Dorking the route heads west towards Westcott, then turns south through woodland and tracks past North Holmwood and South Holmwood, reaching the hills near Coldharbour. It continues west along woodland tracks to Peaslake and the Hurtwood, then on towards Shamley Green and Grafham in the far west, where a loop through Stroud Common and Run Common forms the turnaround. Runners then retrace the route back to Dorking. The surface is mostly dirt trail and forest track with some paved sections, and the profile is hilly throughout, with repeated long climbs and descents. The route is fully signed, with checkpoints at roughly 7, 13, 18 and 24 miles.
