About this race
The Sidlaw Ultra is a point-to-point route of around 69 km from Glamis Castle in Angus to Scone Palace near Perth. Starting at Glamis, the route heads south-west along trails and tracks into the Sidlaw hills, climbing onto the first of several hilltops before dropping to lower ground. It continues south-west through a succession of further climbs and descents across the hills, with exposed high tops and wet sections. The route drops to lower ground on the approach to Perth, where the final section runs on flatter paths and roads before finishing inside Scone Palace. Surfaces are a mix of trail, hill track and some tarmac, and the course is hilly throughout, with several long climbs and descents. The route is signposted, with checkpoints roughly every 20 km and water available at each checkpoint.
